5 activities to do at home

Hey friends,

Since we are all at home more than not these last few weeks, it may become boring for some of us that are used to being on the go mostly. So to help encourage all of us I wanted to share 5 things that we could all do to stay productive!

5 activities to do at home to stay productive

1. Start a new Bible study

Yea we may read our bibles daily but this is a great time to start a new bible study, with a theme or idea you want to learn more about. For example, maybe you want to learn about gratitude (like me), or a certain theology topic like soteriology, etc. This is the perfect time to dive into the bible, searching for key verses on the topic, and reading commentaries and other books from scholars.

By doing this you are using your free time to strengthen your relationship with God and maybe answer questions about your faith that you always had! By the way, there are tons of online bible study groups that you could join to help you feel connected with the outside world. For example, LoveGodGreatly website has a ton of bible studies that you can participate in virtually with women from all over the world!

2.  Start a new hobby

We live in an amazing time with all the technology that’s right at our fingertips. This means we have so many more opportunities than ever before to learn something new. There are a few courses and content on youtube and other websites that kind people make so that we could benefit from them. Try out a new hobby, maybe learn to crochet, sew, or embroid. Learn the bases of a new language. Or maybe you have always wanted to learn how to take better photos. Well my friend, since you are home this is the perfect time to do these things! Just go on youtube and type in “course on calligraphy” for example, and I’m sure you’ll find something to your liking.

3. Catch up on your reading list

I know that most of us…or maybe all of us haven’t read nearly all the books we have on our reading list! Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever get close to completing mine (I add a new book everyday almost..haha). This is a great time to try to knock some books off of our lists. Read to yourself, or to your kids or even to your spouse. Reading is such fun and is good at taking your mind off of reality too!

4. Declutter/ refurbish house

You could do some DIYs around the house to spruce things up or simply take some time to declutter different rooms in the house. It would make your environment so much nicer to be in and will be a breath of fresh air to feel like you’ve completed something that’s been nagging you for so long. We have spruced up our living room and laundry room lately and let me tell you, I am so grateful that we decided to do that! It’s like we are in a whole new home!

P.S.  I highly recommend this activity!

5. Exercise

Yes! I know, I know…gee why is this always on the to-do list? Well, friend, it is necessary for so many reasons. It gives you something to do, it helps to take your mind off of all the craziness right now and it makes you feel so much better. Dev and I have decided to walk around our property since we aren’t allowed to go on the roads or to the beaches/ parks to exercise. It’s much better than we originally thought it would be! The best part is that we get to breath fresh air and feel the bright sunshine. Which is so much better than being in the house all the time. If you live in an apartment or small space, I recommend opening windows (if possible) and doing something (maybe dancing or other cardio) to get the blood pumping. Or maybe even take this time to practice a new sport. There’s so many options, the key is just to be creative!

Final thoughts

Theses are truly uncertain and overwhelming times that we are all living in! I know how easy it is to get consumed in all the craziness that is happening right now. However, it won’t do us any good to dwell and feel sad, instead let’s take this time to better ourselves, stay productive and most importantly strengthen our relationship with God!

I pray that this post finds all of you well and I also want to link arms with all of you in praying for our world, and for those who are getting the brunt of this crisis. My friend, please keep me and all of us in your prayers and I will do the same. Thank you for reading and I hope I have been able to encourage you in some way! Take care and stay productive!

Until next time,

yasmin rose xoxo
