Hey guys,
Today, I decided to list a few games that my family and I enjoy playing at family game night! These games are great for the whole family, and some of them are even biblically sound. I hope that this list inspires you to have family game nights of your own, and if you have them already I hope that it will bring some more fun and fellowship to your family!
Let’s get into this fun list of games!
Games to play at family game night
1. BibleOpoly
This game is similar to the traditional monopoly game that we all know. It has a similar board and pieces. However, instead of aiming to accumulate all the assets you can to win; you are supposed to help the other player, so you all succeed together. It includes biblical cities as landing plots and the overall objective is to “build a church.” I do not have this game yet, but trust me it’s on the top of my list!
2. Bible trivia
I mentioned this game back in the gift list that I posted last Christmas. It is based on biblical knowledge and would bring all the family closer together and to God. Not to mention, it would encourage the kids to study the bible more to get better at the game (or so we can hope right?).
3. Pictionary
This is an old favorite for a lot of us. Playing this game shows us who the real artists are in the family and let us know who has the fastest brains (yeah right). You split into teams of two, one picks a card and tries to draw the description on the card on paper. The other teammate has to guess what is being depicted (easier said than done). I think this is a great family friendly game that you can play for hours!
4. Taboo
The name might scare some away, but it’s a fun and family friendly game. The object of the game is to get your teammate to say the word that is on the card you dealt while avoiding saying words that the card tells you not to say. It gets you thinking and is lasting fun! My nephews love playing this game, and to my surprise, even the smaller ones show off their smarts while playing it!
5. 5-second rule
This game is another thinking game. A player pulls a card, asks the question on the card and the player answering that question has only 5 seconds to answer. If you fail to answer it, the turn moves to the next player. Its a fast paced game that keeps you on your toes! I think that its super fun for the whole family and they have a junior one for the smaller kids. I do not think that the questions are rude or inappropriate (as far as I know). However, smaller kids may be clueless to what some questions are talking about.
Some games I am not sure about
I am planning on getting these games to find out how fun they are. I may write another post on them and some others that I will be testing out!
Final thoughts
Family game night is a great time to spend with our loved ones and build bonds between them. I suggest making it a weekly occasion. Buy some pizza, invite the cousins and nieces and nephews (and the adult relatives) and have a blast! It’s so much better than watching movies! I am looking into getting some outdoor games to play for this summer. I may write about how that goes.
If you have any more games that are your family’s favorites, please list them in the comments below! I’ll love to add them to my collection. May God bless you and your loved ones.
Until next time
